HI

I'm interested in System Audio Explorer. Is the room approx 4x3,5m too small for these speakers? Have you got any experiences with sound or problems with this speaker? I've had SA 1280 at home, but these speakers don't go well with NAD. Is the sound similar? One guy here that had SA Explorer was quite unhappy with them, but he had quite small room (4x2m). What can you tell me about these speakers. (I have a few SA speakers at home, but haven't got experience with explorer at home)

Regards

Matej

I really don't know why anyone doesn't want to answer. OK, there are a few review's online, but it's totally different story if I can get feedback from someone that uses these speakers at home.

I was listening SA explorer in a bit of inapropriate room, with good amp, bad source and expensive cables and sound was awful. The owner of the speakers is selling them, but everyone that comes to listen to them doesn't want to buy them. There is almost no space, highs are razor sharp

What are your experiences with these speakers?

Here is the picture.

I have also contacted System Audio, but there is no answer from nobody. Maybe I'm on a black list or something

Hi

I would like to answer you. But I haven't listen to many speakers, so I don't have any background to advise other what to buy or not.

But I have listen to Explore, just because I have also 1280 speakers from System Audio.

I think the sound is a bit "bright"  They play very vell I think. They seem to have the bas under control. Someone may say the need more bas? I don't know.

What do you mean 1280 don't go well with NAD? And if 1280 don't go with NAD, why do think Explore would be better? Shouldn't you been listen to other speakers?

You listened to the speakers in the room pictured? If that's the case, I'm not surprised they sounded bright & harsh - reflections from room surfaces can easily explain that, in particular if the speakers themselves have a tendency to lean the bright side (as mentioned by DKsoulman). I see on the pic that damping pads have been placed, but frankly, I don't think those are even marginally efficient enough to solve a problem with sound in a room with such bare surfaces - the problem being amplified by the room being on the small side.

Unfortunately, many modern living rooms/spaces are kinda bare - making it very difficult to get good acoustics.. .

I don't know the specific SA model.

A good piece of advice, however, could be to bring your own source if you go listening again.

Also, those dampening pads are by far too thin to have any appreciable effect in the Bass-end of the frequency spectrum. Therefore they matter most if placed on all first-reflection spots on walls, floor, and ceiling. Thus, if possible, make sure to move them or place something else before you listen next.

Furthermore, try to place yourself such that the tweeters point not at your ears but about half a metre behind your ears when you listen next.
