MK3 upgrade
The Mk3 upgrade is now available! The TACT Millennium MK3 exhibits exceptionally low noise and distortion figures. Even comparable to the very
finest combination of conventional DAC and conventional amplifiers. Despite its fully digital construction, its outstandingly neutral and musical sonic
characteristics render further debate on solid state vs. tube, Class A vs. Class A/B, analog vs. digital, etc., irrelevant. The extremely short signal
path removes another veil of coloration inherent to conventional designs and adds a new sense of realism. As an added benefit, the TACT
Millennium offers greater reliability, requires no bias adjustment and runs much cooler than conventional tube, Class A or Class A/B designs. The
audio performance of this amplifier challenges any combination of conventional DAC and amplifiers, regardless of price.
In the design of the Millennium Mk3 we have taken great care to ensure consistent performance with various digital sources. The great care taken
with the clock system results in an improvement of about 6 dB in signal to noise, and extremely low jitter. A very high quality DA converter with
balanced output has been added. The primary purpose is to allow for subwoofer connection, something which was difficult with the earlier versions
of Millennium. DSP’s allows for crossover control, time delay adjustment etc.

Correction features
The MK3 upgrade has been developed with a new design philosophy in mind. As described in our product roadmap for 2005 (see also our 1-2005
newsletter), our new generation amplifiers will be equipped with enough DSP processing power to enable us to include correction and equalization
functionality for a relatively low surcharge. Together with TDA2200, the Millennium Mk3 is the first amplifier to feature such new functionalities.
Tact Audio has developed a measurement and EQ system called 'ATB' that will be included in TDA2200 and Millennium Mk3. The objective of ATB
is to offer some of the essential capabilities comparable to the stand-alone RCS 2.2X, including sub-woofer adjustment and alignment. The sonic
advantages of including such a system inside the amplifier are obvious and multiple. By integrating this functionality in the same DSP, we are able
to far better align the correction system itself with the actual processing going on inside the amplifier. Secondly, the actual sound can not be
degraded by interlinks and other malfunctions, inheritably part of the use of separate audio units. Integration of this functionality inside the
amplifier leaves a far cleaner and more defined audio signal, resulting in yet even better sonic reproduction of the original source.
ATB will be available in the course of 2005 and will be shipped with a dedicated measurement microphone as well. Owners of the Millennium Mk3
can already start to experiment with this exciting new feature of their amplifier. In the download section of this page, you can find the PC Pack
software which includes the DSP software to control all of the DSP functionality. To explain more of this new software, below are shown some
screen captures:
mvh
